Luis Pedro Zelaya, a fourth generation coffee producer, miller and exporter, is a leader in the Antigua coffee community. He previously served as the director of the Antigua Coffee Growers Association, which was founded by a group of producers in 2000 to protect the integrity and quality of the Antigua name and coffees grown in the region.
In addition to running the operations at Bella Vista Farm and Mill, Luis Pedro Zelaya owns and remains involved in production on other pieces of land, such as Finca Semillero. With a background in agronomy, Luis Pedro brings knowledge and innovation to other producers in the area through education and technical assistance. He focuses specifically on pruning, tissue management, soil enrichment, and preventive methods for the health of the farm. He works with hundreds of smallholder farmers in the area and processes much of the coffee at his Bella Vista mill. The Zelaya family is committed to maintaining excellent quality coffee through ecologically stable and environmentally friendly methods.
